Strategy development and priority setting

The clinical research strategy for trauma and orthopaedic surgery was based on the British Orthopaedic Association Research Agenda (BOA agenda) which was itself a consensus of patients, scientists and doctors with an interest in the surgical management of musculoskeletal disease. The new strategy focuses on clinical questions and particularly on the clinical trials which are needed to answer them. It gives priority to the questions for which answers would have the most impact on the greatest burden of musculoskeletal disease.
