Don't let the lights go out on research – sign our joint letter

Published on 04 November 2015

Research support from the UK Government is under threat. If we don’t act together, the lights could effectively go out in research labs across the UK. You can help by signing our letter (PDF, 245 KB) to the Chancellor to fight for continued investment in research.

On 25 November the Government will set out its review on spending for the coming years. The signs coming out of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, which manages the science budget, aren't promising. We're expecting departmental cuts of between 25% and 40%.

Our letter will set out the importance of medical research for patients, for the future of research, for our NHS, and for our economy.

How you can sign

The deadline for signing the letter has now passed but if you're interested our campaigning work please email

The more people who join us, the stronger our voice will be.
