Edward's diagnosis and action plan

Back to Case study – Edward

Given Edward's history and raised inflammatory markers, you make a working diagnosis of polymyalgia rheumatica and start prednisolone at 15 mg once daily.

You arrange a review in a week's time.

One week later:

  • Edward feels about 60–70% better and his appetite has improved.
  • You decide to continue the dose of steroids at 15mg and arrange to see Edward in another two weeks.
