Arthritis Research UK and the Work Programme

Arthritis Research UK relies on volunteers across the UK who kindly give their time to help support our charity shops. The recruitment and management of volunteers is locally devolved.

We don't have links with The Work Programme nationally but in the past a small number of our shops accepted mandatory work experience placements, designed to help people back into work.

We took the decision to withdraw from any programme where attendance is mandatory and all arrangements were phased out. It's important to us that volunteering has positive benefits for those involved: volunteering in our shops gives people the opportunity to learn new skills, and we continue to welcome work placements from people who would like to help the charity in this way.

We're hugely grateful for the time and dedication shown by all our volunteers and supporters, without whom we would not be able to continue our work funding vital research to change the lives of millions of people affected by arthritis.

We're now
