Paris to Geneva

A view of mountains, vinyards and lake GenevaThis exciting cycling challenge links the two classic cities of Paris and Geneva, crossing the border with a fabulous climb in the beautiful Jura Mountains. Your route takes you south-east from Paris, crossing rolling chalk hills, quiet woodland and rural plateaux. The landscape is dotted with small medieval towns and Romanesque churches as you cycle through the famous vineyard region of Burgundy.

Skirting Dijon, you head to the Roman spa town of Lons-le-saunier, at the foot of the Jura. Your legs well feel well-prepared as you tackle the hair-pin bends of the Col de la Faucille (1323m), your gateway into Switzerland and the toughest part of your challenge. You finish beside the lake in beautiful Geneva.

  • Day 1: London to Paris by Eurostar
  • Day 2: Paris to Sens. Cycle approx 125km (80 miles)
  • Day 3: Sens to Semur-en-Auxois. Cycle approx 125km (80 miles)
  • Day 4: Semur-en-Auxois to Lons-le-Saunier. Cycle approx 158km (98 miles)
  • Day 5: Lons-le-Saunier to Geneva. Cycle approx 110km (70 miles)
  • Day 6: Geneva to London by plane

How do I join Team A?

What do I get?

All of our Team A cyclists receive:

  • an official welcome pack, including our Guide to Fundraising with tips and advice to help raise vital funds for Arthritis Research UK, sponsorship forms and posters to help promote your fundraising
  • top training, nutritional and health advice to make sure you’re ready for the big day
  • an official Arthritis Research UK orange cycling jersey to wear on the big day with letters to spell out your name
  • support from the Arthritis Research UK events team before, during and after your challenge

What's included?

  • all accommodation
  • all meals except 4 as specified in the itinerary
  • full trip support of experienced Discover Adventure leaders, drivers and mechanics

What else do I need to know?

You must:

  • own your own mountain bike or road bike – Discover Adventure can provide hybrid or mountain bikes at extra cost if you wish but it’s really important that you ride the bike you've been training on so you’re used to it
  • have had a tetanus injection in the last 10 years
  • check your own bike is in good working order before departure
  • make sure you are fit enough to take on a challenge of nature
  • a valid 10 year passport is essential, it must be valid for at least 6 months after entry into France
  • supply your own helmet and wear it at all times while cycling
  • you should make sure you are fit enough to manage 90-145 km per day

You can:

  • choose one of two payment options available; pay your registration fee of £149 then pay for your trip in full £950 to Discover Adventure and set your own fundraising target
  • or pay a registration fee of £149 and have a minimum sponsorship target of £1900.

What's excluded:

  • personal travel insurance
  • homebound Flight four meals as specified
  • extra food Personal items and entry to any optional tourist sites you may wish to visit
  • money for extra for drinks, souvenirs and other personal expenses
  • Discover Adventure strongly recommend you carry a credit card in case of personal emergency
