What other help is available for neck pain?
If your neck pain continues despite treatment and is affecting your day-to-day activities and perhaps affecting your mood, a pain management programme may help you. This won't get rid of the pain but will help you have a better quality of life in spite of the pain.
Pain management programmes are generally outpatient group sessions run by a team of healthcare professionals, including doctors, physiotherapists, psychologists and sometimes nurses, occupational therapists and other specialist clinicians. These programmes typically include:
- coping strategies
- the use of medication.
Your doctor may be able to refer you if they think you’d benefit from a pain management programme.
