Do you want to make a tangible difference to the lives of people living with arthritis and other musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions?

Versus Arthritis is working through a period of 'transformation’ to 2020. We have identified several complex projects and change initiatives that we believe will enable us to achieve our ambitions as a newly merged charity. We are keen to ensure that this portfolio of projects is evaluated in a robust and systematic manner. This will enable us to:

  • Measure the difference we are making
  • Understand what works, what doesn’t and why
  • Make changes to what we do, based on that understanding
  • Share what we know about the difference we are making

To support this work, we are looking for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic evaluation manager to join our impact and evaluation team.

About the role

The role sits within our Impact Management team. Impact Management is a relatively new function within our charity but we have made substantial progress over the past twelve months; commissioning a number of independent reviews and evaluations, developing internal M&E systems and supporting the wider organisation to meet external funders’ M&E reporting requirements. Over the next 18 months we will continue to evolve our approach to impact and evaluation; we aspire to being leaders in evaluation practice in the charity and healthcare sectors and we have plans in place to achieve this.

The post holder will be responsible for monitoring and evaluating a range of transformation projects and change initiatives, ensuring internal M&E requirements are met and leading on commissioning, project management and dissemination of findings.

We are looking for an experienced evaluation professional with a passion for measuring and communicating impact; someone who has the skills and experience to lead this evaluation portfolio with minimal supervision. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced evaluation manager to apply their knowledge of innovative evaluation approaches to a range of exciting new initiatives. You will be providing expertise to project teams from inception through to implementation and support the evolution of these projects through key stages of development over the next 12-18 months.

Key requirements

The successful candidate will have:

  • At least two years’ relevant experience
  • Demonstrable understanding of evaluation design and methodology
  • In-depth understanding of evaluation trends and latest thinking
  • Experience of designing and commissioning evaluations and managing high value contracts
  • Demonstrable understanding of qualitative and quantitative social research techniques
  • Demonstrable project management experience
  • Excellent numerical, statistical and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Good relationship building skills
  • High level of IT literacy

  1. A concise, up-to-date CV
  2. A supporting statement demonstrating how you meet the key requirements set out in the job description and person specification (Word 63KB)
  3. Please include where you’ve seen this role advertised
