Professor Jon Cohen

Professor Jon Cohen is Emeritus Professor at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, Universities of Brighton and Sussex, and Visiting Professor in Infectious Diseases at Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, London.

He obtained a Wellcome fellowship to train in infectious diseases at Duke University in North Carolina, and then established a department of infectious diseases at Hammersmith Hospital and the Royal Postgraduate Medical School in London.

In 2002 Professor Cohen was appointed to be the founding dean of the new medical school that had been established in Brighton, stepping down from that role in 2013. He's currently president of the International Society of Infectious Diseases, a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Lister Foundation and a non-executive director of Kings NHS Foundation Trust.
