Maureen's gift

Maureen sitting in her deckchair looking at flowersMaureen has been an Arthritis Research UK volunteer in our Penzance branch for 30 years. She has also chosen to support us through a gift in her will.

Maureen is making this gift because the cause is close to her heart. She lives with arthritis and she also witnessed the pain of husband, Peter.

'Peter found it hard to sleep because of arthritis in his knees. It was the pain and irritation he had to live with which made him furious. He was such a healthy active person before- walking, sailing and playing tennis.'

Peter sadly passed away from cancer on Christmas Day in 1988 at only 57 years old. 'I remember him saying, "I might be dying from cancer but I have to live with arthritis."' recalls Maureen.

'I might be dying from cancer but I have to live with arthritis.'

'It was such a strong statement to make that it always stuck with me. I would not have wished him to be confined to a wheelchair due to arthritis. The money I leave will go towards funding vital research which will help many people.'

Your support can take us closer to a future free from arthritis. Find out more about how to include a gift in your will.
