Strategic goals
Educational strategy - healthcare professionals
The overarching aim of our educational activities related
to healthcare professionals is to ensure that those whose
professional responsibility is, in whole or in part, directed to
improving the health of people with musculoskeletal disorders have
the best information available to them, delivered in the most
efficient and effective manner. This goal applies not only to those
who directly provide care but also to those who indirectly have a
responsibility, including those involved in the training or
education of health care professionals, and those who have a
responsibility for planning and managing the delivery of health
care services.
The educational strategy of Arthritis Research UK is directed at
achieving the following goals. We should:
- satisfy the needs of healthcare professionals for reliable,
complete and up-to-date information on musculoskeletal
disorders
- ensure that information produced for healthcare professionals
achieves its educational goals
- ensure maximum awareness on the part of those who have a
responsibility for providing education and/or health care, of the
most effective means of delivering education.
Target groups
We target our educational activities at the following
groups. In addition to medical students themselves, students or
trainees in the other groups below are also included.
- Undergraduate medical students

- Secondary care doctors including medically qualified trainees
and consultants in relevant specialties
- Allied health professionals, including but not limited to:
- Nurses

The needs of these groups are overlapping, as are the solutions
to meet those needs in relation to the goals discussed.
