Published on 31 January 2018

Congratulations to Professor Janet Darbyshire, chair of our treatment subcommittee, who has been awarded the 2017 MRC Millennium Medal.

The Millennium Medal is the Medical Research Council’s most prestigious award, and is presented every two years to an outstanding scientist who has made a major contribution towards the MRC’s mission to improve human health through world class medical research. It recognises those who currently or have previously received MRC funding, and Janet is the first woman to be in receipt of this prestigious prize.

Janet is one of the UK’s leading clinical trialists and epidemiologists and is director of the MRC clinical trials unit, as well as joint director of the NIHR Clinical Research Network.

You can read more about this award and Janet's achievements on the MRC website.
