Best practice tariff for early inflammatory arthritis
We're working in partnership to develop a best practice tariff for suspected early inflammatory arthritis, including rheumatoid arthritis.
Best practice tariffs (BPT) are a way of creating an incentive for hospitals to deliver a higher quality service.
Arthritis Research UK, together with the British Society for Rheumatology (BSR) and the National Rheumatology Arthritis Society (NRAS), has worked with the Department of Health to develop a proposed BPT for suspected early inflammatory arthritis. The tariff would incentivise hospital–based specialists to follow best-practice guidelines for treating people who have only just developed inflammatory arthritis.
The Department of Health have recently issued a ‘test package’ of BPTs including the BPT for early inflammatory arthritis.
We’ve developed a ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ document about the proposed tariff.
