All Party Parliamentary Group on medical research annual dinner
Our Chief Executive Liam O’Toole spoke at the dinner on the topic of public, charity and industry funders of medical research.
He spoke alongside the Minister for Universities and Science, Rt Hon David Willetts MP, Sir John Savill, Chief Executive of the MRC, Professor Roberto Solari and Professor Mariana Mazzucato, economist.
Liam talked about the important role that charities play in funding medical research alongside their role in brokering partnerships and collaborations with industry, academia and other charities. He also discussed the collaboration with the Medical Research Council on stratified medicine for rheumatoid arthritis - co-funded by Arthritis Research UK - as a good example of these partnerships.
