Great Scottish Swim

Swimmers in open waterAt 24.5 miles long, Loch Lomond is Britain's largest inland stretch of water by surface area. The Loch is nestled in the heart of Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, only 20 miles north of Glasgow.

Surrounded by mountains, wildlife, forests and glens Loch Lomond is the perfect place to visit for an open water swim this summer.

You can take on the open water challenge at ½ mile, 1 mile, 2 miles, 5k or 10k – there really is something for everyone.

How do I join Team A?

You can join Arthritis Research UK's very own Team A by securing your own place through the Great Swim Series website, then completing our online registration form.

Simply click on the join Team A button below, complete our quick online registration form, the one of the events team will be in touch to officially welcome you to Team A.

Please note, you must secure your place with the event organisers to be able to take part in this challenge. You can do so by visiting www.greatrun.org/great-swim/great-scottish-swim.

What do I get?

All our Team A swimmers receive:

  • an official welcome pack, including our Guide to Fundraising with tips and advice to help raise vital funds for Arthritis Research UK, sponsorship forms and posters to help promote your fundraising
  • top training, nutritional and health advice to make sure you’re ready for the big day
  • an official Arthritis Research UK orange t-shirt to wear on the big day
  • support from the Arthritis Research UK events team before, during and after your challenge
  • access to our Team A Facebook group where you can share training tips and fundraising advice with your team mates before the big day

What else do I need to know?

You must:

  • be at least 12 years old to take part in the ½ mile challenge
  • be at least 16 years old to take part in the 1 mile and 2 mile challenge
  • be at least 18 years old to take part in the 5k and 10k challenge
  • wear a wetsuit to participate in this challenge
  • adhere to the organisers rules for all challenges
  • sign up on the Great Swim website to secure a place in this challenge

You can:

  • set your own fundraising target for your challenge
  • choose which distance best suits you and your swimming ability
