London to Paris

Group of cyclists taking on a challengeThe London to Paris cycle is iconic. Whether you’re a passionate cyclist or simply looking for a new and exciting challenge look no further as one of the greatest cycle experience in Europe this challenge is not to be missed.

The event takes place over a 5 day period where you will set off in London’s Blackheath common, throughout the rolling fields of Kent and off towards the Dover coast.

Over the course of the event you will cycle through small villages and medieval markets in northern France finishing up at the Eiffel Tower. The final day of the challenge in Paris will allow you to explore the sights and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of this beautiful city.

  • Day 1: London to Calais 125km cycle (80 miles)
  • Day 2: Calais to Arras 125km cycle (80 miles)
  • Day 3: Arras to Compiègne 125km cycle (80 miles)
  • Day 4: Compiègne to Paris 96km (60 miles)
  • Day 5: Paris to London (via Eurostar)

What do I get?

All our Team A cyclists receive:

  • an official welcome pack, including our Guide to Fundraising with tips and advice to help raise vital funds for Arthritis Research UK, sponsorship forms and posters to help promote your fundraising
  • top training, nutritional and health advice to make sure you’re ready for the big day
  • an official Arthritis Research UK orange cycling vest to wear on the big day with letters to spell out your name
  • support from the Arthritis Research UK events team before, during and after your challenge
  • access to our London to Paris Facebook group where you can share training tips and fundraising advice with your team mates before the big day

What else do I need to know?

You must:

  • be 18 years old to take part in this event
  • a valid 10 year passport is essential, it must be valid for at least 6 months after entry into France
  • make sure your bike it is in good order before departure
  • supply your own helmet and wear it at all times while cycling
  • make sure you are fit enough to manage 90-145 km per day

You can:

  • choose one of two payment options available
  • pay a registration fee of £149 then cover your trip costs at £750 and set your own fundraising target
  • or, pay a registration fee of £149 and raise a minimum sponsorship of £1,500

What's included?

  • all accommodation
  • transport (by ferry and Eurostar)
  • all meals (except three as specified in the itinerary which can be found at www.discoveradventure.com)
  • full trip support of experienced Discover Adventure leaders, drivers and mechanics

What's excluded?

  • personal travel insurance
  • three meals as specified
  • transport around Paris on day 5
  • a bicycle
  • drinks
  • extra food
    personal items or entry to any optional tourist sites you may wish to visit
  • please note that costs may fluctuate and Arthritis Research UK and Discover Adventure have no control over any changes. Discover Adventure strongly recommend you carry a credit card in case of personal emergency
