What are the possible risks and side-effects of strontium ranelate?

Some people taking strontium ranelate develop mild diarrhoea, which may prevent longer-term use.

Occasionally strontium ranelate causes nausea or rashes, and there's a small increased risk of DVT (deep vein thrombosis).

You will have regular checks for any signs of heart or circulatory problems while you're on strontium ranelate.
