What is Sjögren’s syndrome?

Sjögren’s (pronounced Shurgren’s) syndrome is a condition that mainly causes a dry mouth and eyes, though it can also cause a range of other symptoms including joint pain and fatigue.

There are two types of Sjögren’s syndrome:

It’s estimated that up to half a million people in the UK may be affected by Sjögren’s syndrome but the exact figures aren’t known because many people never see a doctor about their symptoms.
