Dr Rodger McMillan

Rodger McMillan trained in pharmacology at Glasgow and obtained his PhD in Cambridge before moving to the United States where he was an Arthritis Foundation post-doctoral fellow at Dartmouth College. During this time he developed a strong research interest in the pharmacological regulation of leukocytes and inflammation, an area he pursued when he joined ICI pharmaceuticals in 1980.

Rodger spent over 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry with ICI, Zeneca and AstraZeneca and gained experience in several therapeutic areas including rheumatology, respiratory, cardiovascular and neurosciences. From 1999 he was senior vice president for Respiratory and Inflammation at AstraZeneca and was responsible for over 50 projects entering clinical development. He retired in 2012 from AstraZeneca where he was a senior R&D executive.

After leaving AstraZeneca, Rodger has operated as an independent consultant in life sciences and healthcare working with academic groups, SMEs and research charities.
